Blepharoplasty, or upper eyelid lifting eyelid (upper blepharoplasty, upper eyelid lift) is usually performed on an outpatient basis in the day clinic in Zurich (Zollikon) and in Schaffhausen in an outpatient operation in the cantonal hospital under local anaesthetic ointment (applied 30 minutes before surgery) and afterwards local anesthesia (LA). In addition, a sedative medication is given. First, a precise analysis of the eyelid anatomy is carried out and before the operation, the incision lines and markings of the upper eyelid muscles and fat pads are drawn precisely

The Upper Eyelid Lift Procedure Explained

Things to expect after an upper eyelift
After an upper eyelift, bruising, and swelling you might have will be mild and will subside within 7-10 days. Post-operative instructions ensure you heal effectively. In the first hours after surgery it is vital to cool your eyelids for better wound healing. Most of the patients can expect to return to normal daily activity within 1 week, but all forms of strenuous exercise or Sauna must be avoided for 1 week until the stitches are removed. After removal of stitches the application of make-up is allowed again.
